*** Free Trial is ending May 10, will be billed starting then. ***

HP is offering a free beta for their cloud computing & this can be used for F@H (although I imagine other projects could be run as well). You are limited to 20 cores (edit: per server AZ1 & AZ2) and apparently this can get you 60k+ PPD for folding.

I just signed up but have not been accepted yet.

edit: 6 servers (4x 8vCPU & 2x 4vCPU) now running @2.7 GHz.

edit 2: Still early for real numbers, but my last 24h is about 100k higher with my virtual farm.

edit 3: Looks like about 60k ppd average.

edit 4: 5 invites available, PM by feb 22.

This will be a great way to get more points for the TeAm for sure. When signing up, what did you enter for this part?

* How will you use HP Cloud Services?
(A detailed answer could get you private beta access sooner.)

I said will be running F@H.

Signed up through my business. Went on to say my computers at work crunch for a good cause and I'm hoping to further the contribution. So hopefully the fluff will get me in!

What a great idea, thanks for the link. I also have a business, which I signed up through.

Just glanced at the install links, hopefully they will be enough to get me through if I get into the beta. Otherwise, I may need some hand holding here.

You won't be alone 🙂

I wonder if this too would work for BOINC (asides from the obvious need to set-up for installation/running via commandline).
Keep us posted on how to get BIONIC up,

Lost 2/3 of my computing power last week; need to get some more units processed for the team

Very easy to set up F@H following the guide at EVGA.

Edit:

I chose Ubuntu 11.10 instead of 10.10 as in the guide, which meant the logon name changed to "ubuntu" instead of "root" and I had to use "sudo" in front of each command other than "cd". And for the final step "sudo" goes after "screen".

I got an invite. I setup my servers online but there is not an option to enable a public IP. How am I supposed to connect to this thing?
