Underclocked!

For all you ahistorical kiddies who don't know, underclocked was THE MAN who first alerted us all to some "pretty good deals" available at an otherwise unremarkable mainstream site called Value America!:p

He had to post twice before anyone payed any attention, but eventually we all caught on and bent VA over but good. It was one of the most memorable internet clusterfusks of all time.

Think candy store. Think Huns with a sweet tooth. Think no mercy, Matilda.

Now stop thinking, ok? You'll hurt yourself.

I didn't remember that he had to post twice about ValueAmerica. That was the crown jewel of all hot deals! I'll always be thankful to Underclocked for that. I don't think I could even remember everything I got from VA.

For those who wonder what kind of hot deal that was, imagine if Amazon let you buy anything they sold for 50% off, and even let you come back for more later. Yeah, it was like that.

I remember getting a 27gb hard drive from them for cheap. Guess their business model didn't quite work. :p

Wasn't that a part of the Buy.com fiasco and the wounded monitor children? I remember my college roommate in 99 was one of the lucky few that actually got the Hiatchi 19" CRT for $150bucks (keep in mind they were like 600 bucks then) from that deal.

I actually ended up cancelling that one and following a similar deal with VA. I even remeber calling a wharehouse manager at that time giving an SOB story in order to assure my monitor shipped. I think I got mine for around $250...
