My car was hit too about couple of weeks ago by some dick wad. I left my car parked on the street for about 12 hours and when I came back home my two doors were dented. Whoever it was hit my car so that both doors were damanged. I hate these bad drivers in SF. If you can't backup please cut your license in half and take the freaking bus. I have collision coverage on my 2003 accord but the deductable is $1000. I think I'll just get the money from the insurance and fix it some other time when I have money.

Sucks that it happens, but it is just transportation. Never get why people get all riled up about appearances.

i call my isurance company and i come to find out that neither comprehensive nor uninsured motorists cover this, it would have been under colission which I don't carry on this car. Its just a crappy 99 camry but ya, this sucks.

I've been thinking about buying a new car, and this almost forces my hand, but I think i'll still try and stick it out until the 07 my cars comes out. My car drives fine, but it looks like a POS now.

And when did your 99 Camry ever look good? ;)

Truely? Never. But now that my car is fukked up i'll come find yours and hit it, then I can be the dick who hit your car, how would you like that? I wouldn't leave a note for you either

try waking up in 1990 with a work truck (one of those big pickups with a frame on top of it to hold pipes and stuff) on top of half the front of a CRX ... it was still driveable though.

then try knocking on his door in the morning to ask him what's the deal and have him say "you must have backed under my truck" and his wife try and help and beg we don't call the police...that he will pay for the repairs. a week later they dont answer the door.

anyways fun with scanners and social engineering had him come back with a check to fix *everything*.

Uninsured motorist coverage requires you know who did it.
Before they will even consider paying out. That and when that coverage pays out its for bodily injury only not property damage. Waver of collision deductible is what you are thinking about, that would make it so he would be re-imbursed his deductible. But again he would have to know who did it.

Otherwise, everyone who hit a pole or was in a 1-car accident would blame it on the phantom car and get the Uninsured motorist\waver or collision deductible coverage to pay out.

These are how the laws work in CA they are different for every state though.

EDIT: Sorry about what happened :(
