So I'm out of town at a busniess function and I come out to move my car this morning, and I see that some fsking dick has bascially sideswiped my car, both the drivers side doors have scratches/dents along their entire length and the mirror on the drivers side door is knocked off, also the front quarter panel has some dents too.

i call my isurance company and i come to find out that neither comprehensive nor uninsured motorists cover this, it would have been under colission which I don't carry on this car. Its just a crappy 99 camry but ya, this sucks.

I've been thinking about buying a new car, and this almost forces my hand, but I think i'll still try and stick it out until the 07 my cars comes out. My car drives fine, but it looks like a POS now.

yes, looking at the damage it must have been positivly huge. At least they could have left a note!

Sorry to hear that.

I guess you could always look on the brighter side. Car is still functional. And at least it wasn't a nice car.

It could've been worse?

Sucks. I had a big rig do it to my car once. Not as bad as your case, but it knocked my mirror off. I was able to see the truck doing it on the cameras that were on the outside of the building, but I could not read what it said on it. I had full collision, but it had a $500 detuctable so I just paid for it out of pocket. It sucks.

Well apparently most anandtech'ers are all for hit and runs, so you wont get any smypathy here.

Sucks that it happens, but it is just transportation. Never get why people get all riled up about appearances.

Get the cops involved. If you find out what kind of paint the car had and start asking body shops who brought in a car with that kind of damage who has your paint, you are in teh cash money ;)

You sure uninsured driver doesn't cover hit an run. I would think that it would. Collision is for when you hit some one. Also make sure you file a police report.

Property is sacred. You fvck up someone's property, you owe them. Period. It's not your place to decide what is and is not worth leaving a note on. A Lambo can be just as important to someone as a camry, and a late model camry isn't that bad of a car. If the OP wants to do his HW, he can probably catch the guy and kick his ass in court. He has GREAT grounds for a civil case right here.

One of my buddies went after someone who hit him hit-and-run. He got a quote from the most expensive body shop he could find, which was well within his right, fixed the car himself and pocketed more than a grand for his trouble.

Kick his ass sea bass!
