Sigh... Parents had to put my dog down.

Rosie

She was a good dog, but it had just been her time. She had a paralyzed larynx that developed about a year and a half ago which caused her to pant constantly. The surgery only had a 40-50% chance of working as well so we opted against it. Even with the panting she was still active and would go crazy when I'd visit the parents.

My parents came home from a trip (had to board her) on tuesday and when my dad woke up today, he noticed she seemed like she was lost and confused. He let her out and she wouldn't stop walking. When she finally stopped she almost fell over completely. He let her in and she went to her favorite spot to sit and did what my dad described as "going into a coma". Her breathing was very shallow, she wouldn't respond to when he called her, and she wouldnt move at all. My dad called the vet and had him bring her in. Decided it was best to put her down. Going to get her ashes in a week and a half.

I have grown up with this dog since I was about 8 (im 24 now). She was a good dog and my only regret was I couldn't be there with my dad today. RIP Rosie. You will be missed. 🙁

RIP Rosie! I'm sure she was loved and treated well.

My dog Timber had a seizure and mini-stroke on monday. She is slowly dying from an inoperable mass attached to her spleen which the spleen is bleeding into. I thought today was going to be the day but her blood count has stabilized, so I brought her home and she is now day to day.

Well, at least she had a full life. 16 years is a long time. My dog is 16 about now, and I think her time is coming soon too. She's been in our family since I was 4.

Your parents insulted your dog? That sucks!!

Always a rough time. I had to do the same for my sheltie in HS that I'd had for 15 years. You'll get a new dog soon enough, it'll make you feel much better.

Sorry for your loss. Our Bacon is only 5 and already has grey hairs on his chin. 🙁

Was she a Irish Springer Spaniel?
