why can't you eat him now? is it because he died of some unknown illness?
He probably had something that made him sick... If it wasn't so close to Thanksgiving, I'd have put him on antibiotics 2 nights ago when he first started acting a little off... With all the damp weather we've had, he may have had pneumonia or something. But, yeah, it's a pain, because now I have to very carefully watch all the other animals. We already have a few baby bunnies that were sick, but they're on antibiotics and responding well to the treatment (except for the first one who became noticeably sick... that one died.
Oh well, when you've got livestock, you're going to occasionally have deadstock.
And, yes, this was the 50+ pound turkey. My wife and I were just arguing a few nights ago about eating him for thanksgiving vs. letting him just live out his life, since he was such a unique (to us) bird. Well, her plan won, but not the way we had envisioned.
T minus 3:27 for the pig.
She better not suddenly turn up dead... I'm *NOT* digging a hole that big.
I'd love for you to expound on this, to paint the picture of his personality.Originally posted by: DrPizza

Man I hope the ground isn't frozen up there. I had a cat die in the winter once. I already had a hole dug in the woods from when I was filling in some uneven spots in the yard, so I threw him in there, but I couldn't even make a dent in any dirt to put on top of him. I just put him in the hole and threw some rocks on top. That didn't stop other animals from getting to him unfortunately.

Yes, children. That's how you grow up big and strong. You eat meat from an animal that has died from an unknown cause.
