sigh....my kitty is dying =( she passed away

just got a call from the cat hospital saying that my 5 month kitten is "recumbent" meaning its on its side. they said she's probably gonna die today. i dont understand how a 5 month kitten can die in a care of professionals....we didnt even have her for a full day. =(

this is what happened....

day one... the cat adoption agency stops by to drop off the kitty...she looks GREAT and she is active running around the apt looking at things jumping around the place...but i do notice that she sleeps ALOT...but of course that is usual for kittens to sleep alot.

day two... we notice that she has diaherra and that she has trouble breathing...so we check her in the cat hospital...the doc says that she has a high temp and that they are gonna put her in isolation.

day three....the doc tells us that she has a virul infection and that she is weak....but doing a lil better....she needs to be syringe fed. they told us that they are gonna try to SUPPORT her as much as they can.

day four....she is still weak and is still on the syrine feed...

day five....having doubts about the kitten's survival and the cat hospitals profeciency....the doctors notices that she is actuallty getting worse...and that the they are gonna go AGGRESSIVE on her treatment.

day six....she is now on IV and has no energy to get up

say seven...got the call today saying she is now on her side and "recumbent'...doc says sorry i dont think she's gonna make it.

im in shock....i've had this happen.

I'm so sorry that your kitty is dying. :(

Do they know what viral infection she has? It is probably something that she got before she came to your house.

sorry to hear buddy... hope she DOES come through it... my uncle went into the hospital last year, and at one point was given 24 hours to live. now he's recovering and coming out of the hospital sometime this summer. :)

miracles do happen...

my sister found a kitten, she named him opeth (ick) so I nicknamed em Opie.. he's doing well. I found a cat, I think it was a she, i don't remember... but she died the next day of rat poisoning she must have gotten into before we found her :(

I feel your pain, bro.
Try to remember the agreement that pet owners make, That they will go before we do. That adoption agency obviously didn't have a vet examine her before they put her up for adoption.
I had a kitten named Euripedes who had a congenital birthdefect and subsequently had to be put to sleep. Damn hardest thing I've ever had to do.
At least you gave her love and a home in your heart.

damn i miss that little girl already =(....she would always want to climb on my shoulder and sleep on it...and she would hop on my belly when im playing my games =*(

You know as well as I do there isn't anything they can do for viruses except just try and let them run their course..

That's really lame. Usually the first 2 months things like these can happen, but after 5? That's horrible. Is the adoption agency footing the bills at least?

I know the feeling, my kitty almost died when I got him, and I got him from humane society, from what I've heard a lot of people that get animals from these adoption places end up getting really sick on a regular basis. My cat had a viral infection as well and I had to force feed medicine down his throat, he was lifeless for a good 2 weeks after getting him and the vet didn't know if he'd make it, he ended up pulling through and I've had him for a little over 2 years now.

I sorry to hear that though.

Thats awful man, sorry to hear it.

Sorry for the financial impact too, Im sure that aint cheap...especially considering you had her less than a day.

thanks for all nice replies all! just found out its the FIP virus =(...doctor says she UNCOMFERTABLE...she's suffering =(
