Sigh, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is missing something

I can't put my finger on it... but there's something about the episodes so far this season that's not funny. It's a shame.

OP, I agree, this season has been weak so far. I can't quite put my finger on it either. Its like they're not putting as much content in each episode so things just fall flat. Watch an episode from the first 3 seasons and watch one from 5 or 6 and its like the former has twice as much substance to it.

Always Sunny is the least funny "comedy" I have ever watched. This includes early seasons (as I never subjected myself to the later ones, due to the lack of funny).

it's missing the whole "comedy" aspect

Every show goes that route when it's been on the air too long. The writers are out of shit and at some point they just decide they don't have to do jokes anymore.

I like it. don't take it too seriously. something to have on while having some drinks or so, pretty funny at times i think.

some episodes are pretty flat tho.

I've only seen a couple of episodes, but every episode I've seen seems like a bad seinfeld rip-off to me. They just updated it to include more edgy and current situations. Not nearly as funny though IMO.

I think it started going downhill on season 5. I was regularly loling at the show up until then but after that the lols were few and far between.

nothing's ever gonna be as good or better than 'arrested development'

Right but you can't just dwell on that. Just because a show isn't better than the best doesn't mean that it's not worth watching. This comment has absolutely nothing to do with what this thread is about.

It's not great, but good enough for me to watch. Some of it's definitely pretty recycled.

Haven't seen this weeks' yet, will tonight.

I prefer The League.

Similar style of humor, except not every episode is built solely around how offensive the characters can be given a random scenario. The writing is better overall and with better plot (semi-loosely tied to the premise of a fantasy football league).

Taco (Jon Lajoie) is pretty much Charlie, though, but more laid back.
I'm surprised more people aren't watching his show, it's easily one of the few shows I've burst out laughing often in the past 2 years.

It's Always Sunny has gotten old over that period, though. The height of the show for me was the Day Man play, haven't watched the show regularly since then.
