My topic title pretty much self-explanatory; and by that, I mean, just the mere mention of home-buying and race should produce some memories of those who already went through the process of buying a home.
This issue of race shouldn't matter, yet I find myself scouring through local school test scores + demographics of each community. They play such a HUGE HUGE role in what community I choose for my future place of residence. (future potential value, quality of living, etc etc..)
I must play the institutionalized racism game. It's just the way it is, and I can't help but to accept it (despite its negative connotations/bad PC/blah). hehe oh well.
A very successful latino or black dude must find it very difficult to go into a high-property-value neighborhood.
I've read about this in College, but never really put too much thought into it.
It really hit me with a ton of bricks when I found myself helplessly playing along.
I've always thought of myself as tolerant and respectful of others. I also thought pulling the racecard is such a BS/cop-out move.
Damn... As someone living in such a multi-cultural area as San Diego, I can CLEARLY see the obvious subdivisions. Institutionalized racism is here to stay. *queues up Chocolate Rain*
*not a rant, just an observation.*
*Please, no flame wars.*
*I'm not trying to offend the people here who spite minorities because minorities pull the race-card and it's making them sick. Just stating the obvious, and nothing more.*
EDIT: heh, Coffee is a bitch. Bear with me as I clear this post up. It should be a lot clearer as the day goes by. I'm being stupid and multitasking+neffing at the moment.
I'm trying to clear it up to the best of my limited ability. I am having an aura attack. The caffeine isn't helping. I get Aphasia once Aura/Migraine kicks in. Fuck, I feel like a goddamn retard whenever the stupid aura/migraine comes knocking on my head. I'm fucking educated, yet this stupid condition devalues my worth as a human being. :|
