yep that too. i won't believe it until i see it.

I traded my Sig a while ago..but would it even cycle with a barrel that didn't extend through the slide?

If he meant he chopped the frame and slide, well, there goes the recoil spring assembly.

Yeah, that just occurred to me - I actually pulled out my Glock and realized there is literally no way you could make this work due to the lack of a working recoil spring and guide.

Not to mention accuracy possibly going to shit because of the new and "improved" crown.

Yep. And if it were just the barrel, I'm not sure that it would recoil properly without the barrel guiding itself through the slide..

thats another good point, unless he did some more creative soldering...there's no way it would cycle if he cut both barrel and slide. if it uses a recoil spring guide rod, it might still cycle if he just cut off the barrel.

this is stupid just thinking about it. no one could be stupid enough to do such a thing. could they?

I guess if you somehow cobbled together a replacement recoil spring and guide it MIGHT work, but only if you also cut off the front of the slide, leaving the entire front of the gun open to the elements.

What a strange thing for someone to claim to have done.

Next: "I went out shooting and after my first shot, the slide came off and cut my shoulder. What did I do wrong?"

LOL - I hadn't really thought about the fact that the front of the slide serves the not-insignificant purpose of holding the gun together when fired. This is officially some of the strangest bullshit I've ever read.

he obviously does not own or gun, and has probably only gotten as close to one as seeing that cop walk by with one on his hip

If you're going to get a 229, make sure it's not in 9mm. No reason for it, as the 229 was just a bulked up 228 made to accept .40S&W. Would be a waste as you don't get anything in return in the 9mm version except more bulk. There are plenty of 228s floating around.

I have one. I'm very happy with its, its my go to pistol.

The one downside I do not like is it has no rails. I would like the option at least of putting a laser or light on it using rails.

EDIT

The stock mags are 12 rounds. Mec Gar makes the Sig factory mags, but they also offer after market mags under the Mec Gar name that hold 15. Why Sig went with a 12 round is beyond me. Anyways, 15 round mags are available.

Depends where you go.

CDNN used to have them for 3 something if I recall. They were police trade ins, so some holster wear with low round count. Best deal going at the time IMO, but I dont know if they have any left. You'd have to check their catalog, CDNN Investments.

Otherwise, 5-6 from the gun shops probably.

I think the rails are optional. I've definitely seen P229s with rails.

Yep, there out there. I stated that a bit poorly. My particular pistol does not have them. I didnt think much of it at the time of purchase but in hindsight rails would be nice.

If given the option I would seek out one with rails.

I paid $450 for a lightly used WGerman P228 and $500 for a basically new WGerman P226.

Deals are to be found out there. I personally prefer the W. Germany marked ones. They'll have proof codes. When the US CEO tookover the quality, IMO, went downhill.
