I did a search on rebates on the siemans webpage and it gave me all the Gigaset current and former rebates. PM me if you need the .pdf's for either that or the staples headset rebate.

Oh gosh......can't decide between 242 and 2410.

Either get

242 from OD: $99.99 - $15 off coupon = $84.99 plus tax and minus $30 rebate should bring total down to $62

2410 from PM Staples with Dynadirect.com at $128+$17 2nd day s/h = $145
then use $30 off coupon, total $115 plus tax (less $50 rebate) = total around $74

Can you think of any reason why I should pay $12 more for 2410?

Please help, Thank you

Only if you need to add more handsets to the base. With 3 floors and a basement here, it will come in handy just plugging in an extension cradle anywhere. Phone to phone calling is nice too.

So expandability is the only difference between these two phones besides their looks.

Guess I would go with 242 since I already got 2 phones in the living room, just need this to replace my crappy pacbell free phone.

Why don't you guys order it directly from Siemens? They have the 240 for $79. You have to add shipping. But after rebate for me it would be about $52. Great price for the phone.

Does anyone actually HAVE this phone? The reviews at Amazon are mixed and many say that the sound quality isn't that good. I guess I'll go buy one at the Staples B&M and find out.

Epinions has a few revies of the 4210. It seems that the sound quality and range are not the best, but its expandability and features make it attractive.

I bought the 242 this morning from OD online. I never could find a place to enter code and I eventually went5 through the link that told me that $ 15.00 would be deducted from my $ 50+ order. Still didn't happen. I had to call CS, they happily applied the discount to my order. They did mention that new customer accounts should get $ 10.00 off their forst order. I wasn't mentally quick enough to see if I could get both discounts. Shucks.

I had a friend with one of these. He had two handsets and plugged a handsfree headphones in them, He would complain constantly about how the sound quality was horrible. Occasionally the would be too loud and most of the time it was too low. But they had distance.

Anyone know if these phones have a hold button?
Man hold is like the best feature ever invented. It's terrible when switching between phones without hold button, because you have to go back and hung up the phone, and it my house where I have to run to a different floor is anoying, besides on one of my stationary phones hold button died, so Now I don't know what to do.

After checking around, I decided to pass on this. Have seen too many complaints about sound quality and handset construction (don't accidentally drop this one). I want one of the expandable ones since my house has 3 floors, but have not found one I like yet. Loved the look/feel/build of the AT&T but the sound quality sucked (tried 2 units)

The Siemens 2415 is a great phone. I have one and they don't get any better. It can handle four phones and has an answering machine. There is also a $50 rebate on it, but I would do a pricesearch and see if Amazon will match it. Staples sells it for $136 vs $169 at most places, but you have to keep in mind that Staples is watching anyone now who uses coupons. I heard from a CSR there that they have a new division that does nothing but look through deals made and they then stop them and don't inform you of it, just to jerk you around. It looks like Staples is on it way out as a "deal" place, they are going through a huge expansion, opening lots of stores between now and August (according to an asst, manager at a B&M), and they are going to stop having deals like pricmatching and coupons in the not too distant future. It would be a good idea to start looking for alternatives.

I got my Siemens 240 in the mail today from Amazon. I have to agree with the previous posts that the phone is a bit noisy. You can hear a little bit of background noise. Just a little though, not enough to really annoy me.

Otherwise, it's a really cool and nifty phone to put on my desk.
I really haven't tried the distance though. I do have one gripe, is that it does not have a jack for a headset. Which I really wanted, cause this phone is a bit small, and is not comfortable to hold between my face and shoulders... I have to tilt my neck even more now!

Siamskunk - you're right, Staples has raised the price. I bought mine on 1-25 and it was $136 and I used a $25 coupon from staples. They probably raised it to match everyone elses price when the $50 rebate became effective on 2-4

Here's what you do - call Staples in the evening when you will be routed to Kentucky. In the day you can be routed to Canada or Cincinnati. Both are difficult, and Canada's stuff is being checked for errors because they give away lots of good deals, and most people order in the day.

Joke around with the CSR, ask them questions about themsleves and SHUT UP! They love to gab, just keep asking questions and be sincere in that you are interested in them. Usually they'll talk you ear off. Listen and SHUT UP. Sooner or later when you get around to doing the deal, tell them you want a price match at this location:

PRICEMATCH

The price at this location is $125.48 with $9.95 shipping. They right now have 112 available. You can find this out by pushing the "check stock" button.

Don't say anything about shipping. If the CSR brings up anything about overnight shipping, tell them that the Staples center that services you has never managed to do anything overnight, and that you should only be charge ground, if anything at all. Say this in a very friendly manner, like you're talking to a good buddy, because if you did everything I said, they will think of you as a friend.

Then use a $25 or $30 off $100 coupon. Then send in for the manufacturers $50.00 rebate. That will be a great deal for you. Good luck, let us all know how it turns out.

My sister recently bought the whole Siemens 2.4GHz phone set with 3 handsets and one base station. I decided to put it to the test since it looked cool, it must sound cool...

Well to make a long story short, the sound quality of these phones is pathetic. I had to strain to hear what some people were saying. If you get someone with a bad phone on the other end, forget trying to make out what they are saying. The sound quality on all three handsets was the same. The range was decent on them, as most 2.4GHz phones, so I wouldn't look at them for this either. The final point that I didn't buy it was she dropped one and it exploded into a billion pieces...

I picked up a set of Panasonics and have been thoroughly pleased since. If you ask me $50 for these Siemens is too much. They are trash that is all dressed up...
