got a MS Sidewinder gamepad serial and trying to use it on an XP system....does anyone know where i can obtain drivers from?

Thanks!

By serial, are you referring to a Sidewinder that plugs into a gameport?

The drivers for the Sidewinder gamepad are built into XP. Just go under Control Panel -> Gamepad Controllers -> Add and select MS Sidewinder (Auto Detect).

didnt think that will work cos its not usb and only xp will auto detect usb devices and not the old gameport slot...thanks anyways

XP will detect the Sidewinder on the gameport just fine (mine works fine). You don't need drivers for the gamepad. Is the gameport/sound card set up and working properly?

yeah everything is set up correctly but not been able to get the pad working...its annoying me now...dont want to play football games on the keyboard!

What BlueWeasel said is correct. If your soundcard/gameport is set up correctly (Make sure it's enabled in the bios if you're using onboard sound & gameport), your pad isn't defective, and the Microsoft Sidewinder (Auto Detect) is added in the Game Controller control panel, it should work. I have 2 of them sitting in front of me now daisy-chained and working great.

yeah i am using onboard sound, so i guess everything is installed correctly but doesnt seem to want to work....time to start tearing my hair out!
