Side Fan and Cpu Cooler

I have an antec 1200 case and i was wanting to put an aftermarket cooler on my i7 920 so i can overclock a little bit but i also want to put a fan on the side panel. so i guess my question is would they both fit has anybody done it. the cooler i want its the thermalright ultra 120. i been adding it up with measurements and i think i would have almost an inch in between the two i just want to make sure

I have a 900 which is practically the same width as a 1200 and with the fan on the side panel my ACFreezer7 is about 3/4" from the heatpipes sticking out on the top and 1.25" from the actual cooler

One issue I've run in to when using fans close to one another, is that sometimes turbulence is caused that in turn causes excess noise.

A side panel fan may not even be needed. Check temps with the side fan on and off.

Your are fine on a 1200, the side fan is low enough not to touch any cooler you use. I'd say the side fan is more meant to cool GPUs not the CPU, it doesn't blow at the CPU at all

1200 has enough air.
the cooler is what matters, you can only push so much air through a system before it makes no difference.
