I remember playing this game way back when it first came out, I added it to my Steam wishlist. Got the notification it was on sale, for $1.99 I had to pick it up. Thought other people might appreciate this! 🙂

I played it a LOT back in 1989... obviously not this version... my roommate in Okinawa had a Mac, and watching another buddy play, I witnessed him accidentally cause a glitch in the game, resulting in 655300 gold... once I figured out how it happened, I went back in with my character, who had already become a Grand Duke, and went crazy, trying to achieve the rank for all of the nationalities, girls in every port, massive fleets and followers. Funny when you sold off your fleet, and kept most of the pirates, to be down to one sloop with 1200 pirates, apparently hanging off the sides of the boat, on the masts, swimming along side. Good times. I didn't reveal my secret for a week or two, to my great amusement and the great confoundment of my roommates.

Played this for hours on the C64. Knew the map by heart so I normally had to use only 1 piece of the treasure maps to rescue family members. It was a blast to capture Spanish galleons with 16 people sloops. If you got hit once that was it. Bought it to replay and see if I can reenact dome of those memories.

I played it over the weekend until wee hours of the night. I can tell you it is a beautiful recreation of the original. Don't like the dancing minigame much but everything else recaptures the spirit of the game.

You can only save 4 family members though, which is kind of disappointing hehe.

Highly recommended.

Sounds like a winner for $1.99!!!

Haven't played it (ever), so will add it to my list. Any issues game-wise or on Steam?

great game, before that game there was a french game Corsairs, much older but in my opinion better.

Shit. $9.99 again.
I played the hell out of the original back in the day.

Now where is a remake of SimGolf?!?!
