Living in the rural UP has its advantages, not many, but escaping nuclear holocaust is defiitely one of them and for once in my life, I am glad I am here.
 
This is nonsense, US and Russia has over 50 years of "crisis management" experience, they are not going to nuke each other. I would be more concerned about China, India, Pakistan, etc.

mutual assured destruction is not a first strike tool.
A direct confrontation is unlikely as both sides understand no one wins.
What you will see is proxy skirmishes and battles, economic leveraging, and attempts to isolate them.
Unfortunately this means europe is going to have to get off its butt and start assuming more responsability for its own defense. Something one wonders if it would ever happen.
aside from britian and eastern european nations the rest seem to me to have the spine of a jellyfish.

I highly doubt that happens though. The Russians aren't going to start a conflict with us, too much for them to lose. We can hit them with our Navy and European based bombers they would have a hell of a time hitting the US without using ICBMs and that would be stupid.

Pretty much.

Prof doesn't realize it's Europe and America who are coming up with excuses at every turn not to start a conflict with Russia.

Russia's military is doing what they want at will, including destroying millions of dollars in military hardware that we provided Georgia.

Georgia's military (trained and armed by the US) got steamrolled.

Hey, we have a garden and some pigs, and most others have a means for food as well. Those that don't, most likely won't walk their fat asses all the way to my house, and if they do, well just about everyone in the UP is a strong proponent for the 2nd amendment.

Meh, if it came down to it (and it won't), we'd destroy them. Russia can do that with neighboring countries due to their huge tank reserve. That's all they have. But keep on grinning about how they took out a portion of a tiny country's military.

Thanks, I actually do have an H2 with armor plating and enough gasoline with extended tanks for about 1500 miles. It should be enough to get to your place and steal your potatoes and cucumbers.
