Sick time buy back

Anyone else get to do this? I must say that it is so sweet this time of year... getting to sell back 32 hours of sick time and getting a nice check in return.

I have 40 hours of sick time left on the year, use it or lose it 🙁 buyback would be freaking sweet though.

We used to be able to do that then they changed the way our vacation/sick time was structured. When that happend I had about 80 days of vacation froze. Through out the years after that they would pay off the frozen time. I received a healthy check for my time last year.

socialist!

We don't have sick time per se here. I worked at a company where we got a week or two every year and you could build it up into a STD supplement, but you couldn't sell it back. You also couldn't use too much of it or you'd be shown the door.

We actually would get "scolded" if we used too much of it. Over the summer our "boss" told a couple of the employees to use sick time for days off, and they got a nice form letter from HR about taking so much sick time.

We can't sell anything back except vacation time that was bought at the beginning of the year.

Our sick time is unlimited, though.

We have until the end of march to use our sick, vacation and holiday time or we lose it. Management is worse, they have until the end of the year or they lose it. One of many reasons why I don't want management where I work. A lot of people here use up their time by sept.

the only time I dont use is the 8 hour of unpaid time off. I only use it if I have to and I've only used it once and I've been at my current Co. for 13 years.

I have 140 hours built up. Max is 160 hours. I make about 4 hours per week..... I took almost 2 weeks vacation on october for my wedding and have been trying to go to various doctors just about every other week for an afternoon or so.

I cannot sell back PTO, I have to actually use it.

Well I can get fired and they pay it out too.

Don't have sick days, but PTO days. Use to be able to sell them back, but cannot anymore. Means I am taking off like half of Dec.

Don't have sick time at my current company, only have PTO, and you can only accrue so much before it is expunged from the books. Better to use it than lose it 🙂.

Can't sell back sick. Used to be able to cash out 80 hours of PTO but they yanked that last year. Lot of people pissed over that one. We have A LOT of highly tenured employees...20+ years of service that are accruing like 8 hours of PTO per pay period. They simply couldn't take enough time off a year so they would cash out two weeks at Christmas.

Not any more.

That would be awesome! I got hundreds and hundreds, the only way I'll ever use them is if I get cancer or something long term.
I like the sound of your job!
