Oh man, what's that song called:

"Mercy, Mercy, Mercy.........Shy guy, Shy guy..."

Know what I'm talking about? Who sings this? This song kicks ass.

<< I hear ya. I'm not shy, I just don't do "small talk". If I don't have anything to say, I simply don't say anything. >>

Story of my life

<< "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy.........Shy guy, Shy guy..." >>

Isn't this by Shaggy?

happykitten, you can't be shy 😉 it would be a tremendous loss to us guys if you were shy 🙂

One more tip...think of your favorite song, one that you sing to in the shower or play air guitar to, something you're not embarassed to like. In general, a song that just makes you feel good. Now when you're in a crowd of people, walking or whatever, have that song playing in your head and don't let it get out of your head until you're comfortable.

You won't believe the amount of confidence you'll have.

I was shy early in high school, but then I realized one thing. i don't care. I actually enjoy saying the stupidest thing possible just to get a reaction out of people. I'm usually the loudest person in a room at any given time.

I still am shy in 2 situation though and am working to correct it. I'm shy in large social situations where I don't know anyone (ie. clubbing is not for me yet)
And I'm sh around girls I don't know who I like. Basically if I'm attracted to a girl, but don't know her, I have trouble initiating conversation, but I'm progressing. Soon I won't piss my pants anymore either. hehe

I can talk to anyone, and usually won't shut my damn mouth, but when I start to date a girl I just seem to close up. I know what my problem is, but I think you all can figure it out.

My suggestions is just start talking to people, absolute strangers, men or women. If you are at the grocery store in line, check out the tabloids then strike up a conversation. Also when you walk around make sure your head is up and you are looking forward, not down like a scolded dog. It will actually help build confidence in social settings.

shoot, im the shyest person in the world, yet I work Tech Support/Customer Service at a ;arge firm. Interacting with 100 people a day, really breaks the mold! 🙂 I still am shy at social gatherings for the first couple of minutes, and new places, so you never really completely break the cycle!
