Shuttle XPC SG31G2 SFF from BookPC

Several month ago, I posed a question here about building a miniPC for a budget of $1000.00. I got a lot of really great feedback - and I was raring to go.

But, things got really busy; I started getting lazy. And now, I absolutely need to get a PC up and running for home use.

I've dropped the idea of building, but looked around and stumbled upon www.thebookpc.com. I wasn't able to find any information about these guys anywhere else. Does anyone know anything about these computers? I'm looking at this one in particular:

http://www.thebookpc.com/produ..._35_63/products_id/367

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 - 2.33 Ghz, 1333 MHz, 4MB
2 GB DDR2 PC6400 (800MHz)
500 GB Sata2 7200rpm 16MB
802.11b/g Wireless 54mbps PCI Wireless Adapter (what is the difference b/w this and the USB model? The USB model is $6.00 more expensive)

Any thoughts about this PC, and this company?

That is expensive to me. I bought my SP35P2 like four months ago from buy.com on ebay for like $240. It takes the C2D and C2Quads and it has a 400 watt power supply so you can stick a gtx 260 in it.

Yours was a barebones. The one that the OP listed was for a complete system (presumably) with a warranty and OS.

There are too many good companies selling SFF PC's to justify me buying from a company that has no ratings.
Their "About Us" information says they've been selling PC's since 2001. Yet they have no Reseller Ratings.

TheBookPC has the same address and phone number as Umite.
A company that only sells Beverly Hillbillies MP4s and something they only call "testproduct".

It may be a fine company, but without any ratings to back it up, I'd buy elsewhere.

I used to own a B&M mom&pop computer shop. If I had taken it online, I could honestly say "since 1994" but have zero Reseller Ratings (initially).

Anyways, if the OP can build his own (as he indicates he can) then this is a moot issue.

BookPC has been selling "online" since 2001 😛
