So, I've been reading about these PCs, including this review...I first considered it since I had planned on building my g/f a PC for a graduation present. (Nerdy, but she needs one for college, and thought it'd be nicer than a "blah" mid-tower ATX)

So anyway, my question is what you guys think about them, if you any of you have one, any opinions, what other companies are making similar products, you know.

Any help is welcome, since I'd like to start building some data so I know what I'm going to do......plus, if her's really turns out that well, I'll probably build myself an MP3/movie/server for the apartment. Lastly, when are the AGP slot versions supposed to come out? Both newegg and mwave list the SS40G coming out on the 10th or 11th, but that only has PCI...even tho she won't be an intense user, I'd still like the AGP port, and would rather not have to use a PCI->AGP adapter.

Thanks everyone. :)

(I didn't know which forum to post this in, since it's a PC, not just mobo or case...)

I want to build one around a Cyrix C3 just to see how quiet I can get it. Cyrix C3, no CPU fan, Barracuda IV, & one ultra-quiet speed adjusted fan in the power supply.

Should be pretty damn quiet.

yeah, I love all that too, but first I have to build HER PC...

The PC itself is great, the sound should be fine for her, onboard LAN (dorm), USB 2.0 (new keyboard and mouse).....but I'm still not sure about the onboard video......I guess I'll have to talk to her about what her uses will be, but I'd imagine that no matter how good of a CPU I put in it (it'll probably only be like a 1700+), the video card will suck for video playback.

For now, it looks like: $350 for the PC, $50 for the HD, $75 for RAM, $100 for CPU...........that's a pretty good price for what she's getting, and it'll be a computer suitable for a girl like her who couldn't care less what's under the hood of the computer.

Come on, anybody with some info? Opinions?

When not much is happening, there's no reason for noise :p

I had an SV24. I guess what I didn't like about it was the small power supply, which made me afraid to install my CD burner and TV tuner. The graphics were pretty crumby, which I understand has been improved on later models. The SV-24, in particular, was loud. It had a 60 or 50mm fan on the back that just screamed. Later models are better I hear.

I say go for it.

I recently built up a tualatin system in an Aopen H340 slim case. Very slim, 200W PS, very quiet, well engnieered ventilation. Used a 1.3Ghz Celeron and an Asus TUSI-m mobo

yeah, I haven't really read too much about other mobo's and cases......also interested in iATX..........blarg, so many details.

I suppose she wouldn't really care if it was REALLY quiet, or just quiet. :) I'd still like a little assistance tho. ^_^
