Hi, I have a Shuttle SN85G4 V3 SFF PC. Basically the problem I have is that my 200GB WD HDD only shows up as a 130GB drive. I know about the XP limitation but the fact is that the drive is only showing up at the bios start screen at 130GB. I have no idea why. I used the search function and found out that for most people is because their BIOS is old and does not support 48 bit LBA [I think]. However, the motherboard I am tryng it on is a nForce 3 250 board and I would have thought that this would support large HDD's without a BIOS update. I have searched Shuttle's site for any bios updates but I can't even find this Shuttle PC in their products section, all i can see is the V2 model which uses the nForce 150 chipset, so the BIOS from that is no use. The specs of the system are:

Athon 64 2800+ [754 pin]
768MB PC2700
200GB WD 7200RPM
Radeon 9500 64MB
Pioneer 107D

The motherbaord is marked FN85 V2.5, and on the box it says its a 'Rev. 3'. The PC currently has Windows XP w/ SP2 installed and it works fine. I checked the HDD using the WD HDD tool but it found no errors on the drive. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried to change the settings in BIOS to get the full capacity to show up?

What do the WD tools say about the size of the drive and it's partitions, etc.?

Was the drive already being used as a 200gb drive successfully?

Have you tried to delete all partitions and start over fresh?

Hi, I've tried changing the setting in the Bios from AUTO to LBA but it makes no difference, when I set it to AUTO the BIOS shows the drive as 131GB and when I set it to LBA it shows as a 128GB drive. WD Tools recognises the drive as a 130GB drive, I even tried writing zero's to the whole drive to see if that made any difference but it didn't. I am starting to think it is the actual drive at fault but wouldn't any errors show up when i tested it though WD Tools? I've had this problem since I got the drive.

Are you using winxp? If so have you installed sp1 or sp2? If not do so now and you should be good to go. It sounds like a fresh install on the drive just upgrade to the sp2 and the windows will see the whole drive. There is a 130gig limit in winxp until sp1 was released.
