Reseller rating is pretty good: excaliberpc

The only problem you might run into is if you have a defective unit, since they won't take returns at all. Any rma's would have to be done thru Shuttle, but don't know if that'd be a problem or not?

Anyone had to do an rma thru shuttle?

I already bought this today. :D I was contemplating getting the new Fujitsu p5000 series Lifebook, but I thought $1599 was way too much for a laptop that depreciates so fast. Plus, my shuttle will be faster, and have a much larger screen. :)

Great price on a cool system. Plus, Shuttle has finally wised up and put the S/PDIF optical output on the back of the box instead of on the front. The is one thing that kept me from buying the SN41G.

Now, if I can only find a good price on the black version of the SN45G, then I'll jump in.

A shuttle crashed a while ago and they're refusing to rma it, something about missing parts.

(Thank you, thank you, be here all the night...)

Personally, I would just wait for a good deal on a Dell 4600C. Got one last week (refurbed) for $350 with a P4 2.4Ghz and a CDRW+DVD(read) drive. Very quite, very small, very stylish, with 5 channel sound and SPDIF ...Dual channel memory, supports 800Mhz FSB and up to P4 3.2Ghz with hyperthreading. Oh, and has a SATA connector if you want to go with a SATA hard drive. And dude...it's a Dell.

Excaliberpc confirms that these SN45G's are shipping with the Enhance ENP-2320 power supplies and after selling many of them, they have received NO complaints. Sounds good to me, otherwise they are happy to honor RMA's.

black version? Do you have a black version of the SN45G yet? I know they do for the SN41g2b

All the Black painted shuttles I've seen scratch VERY easily. I plan on doing a much more professional paint job on my shuttle. It will be easy since it's such a small surface area.

No, I don't have a black version, yet (that's why I want one!). Would look nice connected on the entertainment center as a PVR/media player PC.

I got my SN45g today and did a little testing and overclocked my AthlonXP 1700+ to 2200mhz at 200mhz FSB speed. I like this thing already. :) Also, the looks of this compared to the SN41G2 faceplate is rather nice and elegant. Bottom, line, I like it so far.

Hey dejacky,

Can you tell me how hot your 1700+ runs at when at 200 FSB? Considering you have to (do you?) use Shuttle's kinda crazy, built-in ICE CPU cooler? And, urrr, is there room for a Radeon 9500? hehe.

Thx,
[eR]

There plenty of room for a Radeon 9500... the only problem you're going to run into is a double slotted video card or some of the silent cards that have heatpipes made by Zalman. Of course, if you're brave and want to do a little cutting... that wouldn't be a problem either.

The Shuttle ICE heatpipe is actually pretty efficient. Not only does it cool off the processor but it sucks air out of the case, while being incredibly quiet. I replaced the stock fan on the heat pipe with a Panaflo and my average running temps are about 46C, it'll sometimes hit 50C while gaming. I haven't had a heat related crash or problem yet though. Those numbers may sound a little high compared to a big box with 6 fans and all... but the numbers are well below safe levels.

Hi,
everything tnguyen88 said is true. This system is about 30% quieter than my tower computer mainly because there are less fans to cause vibration. No crashes yet either. I'll have temp readings after 1-2 weeks when I have more time. The motherboards in these Shuttle SN45g's are Shuttle FN45 REVISION 1.0. Damn, I like the blue power light...very "kewl."
