I have an Antec Aria in which I put in the Shuttle MN31N. It has worked great for the last couple of months that I have owned it, but yesterday my monitor wouldn't come on and I think it has to do with the AGP bus. I have switched the monitor to a different computer, I have installed a AGP card out of a different computer and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If it has to be RMAed does anyone have anysuggestions on a motherboard to get? I bought it from newegg about two months ago and now they don't sell it, so I may have to get something else. The reason I chose this board to start with was the soundstorm, but I think I am going to have to get a board with out it. The board has to be MicroATX to fit in the Aria, and I don't care AMD or Intel. I may even want to go 64bit at this time.

TIA

What monitor is it? Have you tried a different monitor? I ran into an anomoly with my mom's MN31N, which simply would NOT run her 17" KDS montior, but ran my 17" Optiquest just great. So we swapped :p

Her KDS monitor wouldn't run on my A7N8X Deluxe with an nVidia-based video card either, which pretty much nailed the blame to KDS, or else nVidia themselves (not Shuttle per se nor Asus). I shrugged, switched out my old GeForce2 for my Radeon 7500, and went on with life, but it certainly was interesting. You kinda assume that a monitor is going to work with any chipset/GPU combo.

Oh, and if you want an A64 board, check out the little Gigabyte SiS760 board at Newegg. 64MB of onboard video RAM, kinda interesting.

It is a Benq 15 inch LCD, but I have used the same monitor on it ever since I have had the SFF computer. But an interesting point, I'll try to switch, but the only other monitor I have is a 21.2 inch Samsung, don't know if that will work.

I see what you're saying, it had been working fine and now it's quit. Ooops, sorry I'm slow on the uptake tonight  More... coffee... required! :p Could it be that something else has pooped out in there, the PSU perhaps? You tried resetting the CMOS, I suppose.

If the board has died then there's also the MN31L (unless Newegg dropped it too), which has the base-model southbridge instead of the Firewire/Soundstorm one.

Yes I did resest the CMOS, as far as the PSU, I don't know how to test that. The computer does start up, the lights com on, the CD and HDD spin up. It seems everything is set to go, but the monitor says no signal detected and shuts off. I even tried switching the monitor cord. Is it posible something happened to the AGP bus? Since nither the onboard or the AGP graphics work and since they both work off the same bus. Does that kind of stuff happen?

I guess it could happen, yeah. Try just hooking up the mobo to a different power supply, if you have another system you can borrow one from. If the monitor comes on, there's a clue it may be a busted power supply. Um, any lightning storms in your area at the time it went down? :(

We can rule out the PSU. I swaped it out for the working Antec TRU430 out of my main computer and it did the same thing. I don't know of anything else to try. If anyone has any susgesstions let me know.

Thanks

KD

edit: To add there where no lightning storms in my area over the past few days.
