I've been running my Shuttle AV40R wth 768MB of RAM, 256MB in each of the three slots. I recenlty installed a 1Gb memory card, replacing one of the 25gMB cards. Unfortunately the BIOS is only recognizing 512MB of the new RAM, for a total of 1Gb instead of the installed 1.5Gb. I've tried switching the order of the card in the slot and also installed just the 1Gb card. Ervery configuration shows only 512MB for the new memory.

The specs say that combinations of memory cards and types should work. The 256 cards are PC2100 and the 1Gb is PC2700. I'd say it's the card but it seems very unusual that half the memory woud be working. It's packaged as 64X128. All cards are non-registered.

Any suggestions?

If you don't have the manual for your board, you can download it, here. On p. 14, it says:
Versatile Memory Support

Three 184-pin DIMM slots support up to 1.5 GB of PC1600 or PC2100 DDR SDRAM module.
It looks like your board only supports RAM sticks up to 512 MB.

Thank you but I have the manual. It says that I can put up to 1Gb per slot up tto 1.5Gb maximum of non-registered.

"The AV40/40R mainboard has three 184-pin DIMM banks that allow you to install from 64MB up to 1.5GB of system memory. Each 184-pin DIMM bank can accommodate 64MB, 128MB, 512MB, and 1GB of PC1600/PC2100 compliant 2.5 single or double side 64-bit wide data path DDR SDRAM modules. DIMM slots are arranged in three banks, each memory bank made of one bank and providing a 64-bit wide data path."

That's why I'm confused. I expected the BIOS to detect the 1GB module.

Any other suggestions?
