Shuttle AN35N400 XP2400+ combo back at Fry's $129.99

This was in the SoCal Fry's Sunday ad. The combo was on sale two weeks ago in a better deal (see thread). Apparently the mobo is not dual channel. Also, it's a bare CPU, unlike the last sale. Maybe still worthy of mention, though.

At newegg it's $48 after $15 MIR for the motherboard and $81 for a retail barton 2400+ (266MHz FSB) CPU with free shipping on both. An OEM Barton 2500+ is $85 shipped. If the CPU at Fry's is a Barton (333MHz), it's a pretty decent deal since it avoids the MIR. If it's a TBredB, it's not so hot.

yep, expired. 1) bought an unlocked/hugely overclockable Barton 2500+ last week from a local store and 2) the AN35N ultra from newegg for about $47 shipped. combined total was about $147, and it shows up and runs as a XP 3200+. (FSB 200mhz, mult is 11 i think).

So, the AN35N ultra is a good choice. As long as the unlocked 2500+ Bartons are still in the pipeline ( a pipe that is soon to run out as post-week 38 Bartons appear to be locked), it is a much better choice than the 2400+ due to overclockability.

p.s. as far as I know, no one has figured out a user-method of unlocking the new 2500+ Bartons. If you have a local supplier and can get a look at the manufacture codes, now is the time to nab a pre-week39 Barton before they are gone. Most online retailers have already exhausted their supply.

Picked up one of these deals yesterday to build a PC of a friend from Fry's in Wilsonville Oregon. the PROC was a 2400XP Thorton 🙂
