Shuttle AK31

Has anyone had any experience with the shuttle AK31 board? I've found only two reviews of it. One of them, from VIAHardware (which I'd never seen before) is about a month old and was extremely negative of the board. According to them, it's performance was about half that of other DDR boards. The other article is the new Legion Hardware review that says the AK31 outperformed all the other DDR boards they tested it against. I'm confused by the diffence performances in each article, maybe its just new BIOS versions that came out between the two.
I've had good experiences with Shuttle's products in the past, but its been a year or two since I last purchased on of their MBs.

I just ordered one and expect to have it in by Wed. I'll post my results when it's complete. BTW I got it from mwave for $109.

Seems to be an excellent board, especially after reading the review from Legion Hardware. I remember that one of Shuttle's boards (cant remember which one) was one of the best performers in the Socket 7 days. And it's definitely possible for a bios/firmware revisions can changes the performance of a board. MSI's KT266 board also had similar issues. One thing I really like about the KT266 boards is no 686B South Bridge and it's problems. Cluzo, I'm also waiting to hear from you about your experience with this board.

Cludoc.net also has a review on it, they are more negative then Legion. I got this link from Cluzo. Yeah, that motherboard is cheap at Mwave.com, 102 Dollars I tihnk it was, for a DDR motherboard, jeez. Great value. I'm waiting for some more known companies though to get their KT266 motherboard out. I posted a subject about the KR7, Abit's KT266 chip, but noone was interested I guess, but that motherboard I'm guessing will be much higher priced. Not as high as the KG7 though I would imagine, but since they will be released on similiar Dates, I'm sure Abit will try to make them close. The reseaon the performace is better is because the KT266 chip was recently revised, I was told though it supposed to take place in July though form Viahardware.com. Good to see the KT266 beating out the Amd760 ^_^, have fun.

Thanks Coligeon. It mentions that this is a revised version of the KT266. Does it mean that it doesn't have the problems mentioned here? This is one thing that's scaring me about this board.

Sure, yeah, they did mention it was the new revised version of the chip, but I heard that it wasn't supposed to take affect till July, I don't know for sure. Keep checking Viahardware.com, they have new stuff coming each Day.

hmmm, viahardware has a review and they state that REVISION 1 boards are still in the channel, does anyone know if multiwave is selling the 2.0 version?

That's a good Question, try to contact them about it, that's the only way I can Think of you could tell, but you definately don't want the 1st revision. Anyone know if Msi plans to release a revision2 of the K7T266? Thanks.

mwave is selling the REVISION 1 board... Their add is misleading stating that it's a KT266 PRO. I e-mailed em stating that they should change the verbage on that page and specifically state that it's the TURTLE slow REVISION 1 board..
