Shutters

So I had one crack over the summer when I took it off the house to inspect what I feared was termite damage, thank go it wasn’t. Looked like an old mud wasp nest.
We had a huge wind storm yesterday and another fell off the house and cracked one is in really bad shape now.
I ordered some vinyl replacement shutters I am amazed at the price range shutters can come in lowest cost I saw was $36 highest for cedar shutter $850 for a set
Back on topic:
Why do vinyl shutters seem to all recommend those stupid plastic mounts (see below) what is the benefit of using them? They seem fragile and difficult to anchor any reason I shouldn’t use a metal corrosion resistant screw? Obviously be careful not to drill metal screws in too far.

I wanted to get builder edge but
A) I had to wait until mid January for delivery due to Covid
B) That means it is made in China

Here is the mount most vinyl shutters seem to use or recommend

I ended up with “Perfect Shutter” because
1) I get them
2) Country of origin is USA
