Shutdown problems with bp6 - edit: fixed

It takes my new system 8 - count em - 8 minutes to shut down/restart. What's the deal? Just installed win2k.

My setup is as follows:
Abit Bp6 w/ dual celeron 466's
Win2k Professional
128 megs of ram - at the moment
geforce 256
netgear fa312
netgear fa310tx
aopen aw744
IBM 13 gig 7200 rpm on HPT controller port 1 (ide 3)
WD 30 gig 5400 rpm on HPT controller port 2 (ide 4)
Acer 16x/40x DVD-ROM on IDE 1
300 watt atx psu... floppy...

I had HPT controller problems on the BP6 - gradual system file corruption. Try the drives on standard IDE ports and see if that stops it. You can maybe get some advice at the BP6 forum - at http://www.bp6.com/Forum/ .

this is a carbon copy of the one I have on that forum. HPT controller hasn't been giving me trouble - that is of course if it's not causing this.
