I am using Abit VT6X4 motherboard and when I attach a USB scanner or USB mouse, the shutdown doesn't work.
It just hangs.

So, when you have a USB device connected and you click Start->Shut Down->(options)->OK, the computer locks up, or just won't shut down?
Why is it always Windows98 that doesn't shut down correctly? ;)

Sounds like you need to download the following patches from the MS website:

USB update
Shutdown update

They only work with Win98se though

You can also try to disable Legacy USB support in the BIOS.

Can you direct me to the link where I can download the USB patch.
I already have patch for shutdown problem.

And there is no legacy USB option in Abit VT6X4 motherboard.
It has only USB support option and USB keyboard support option under it.

Thanks, guys (or girls)
