haha, that's bad :D

And it's not lethal force either, so you can't get in trouble. :D

I do like the idea of screaming at the lawyer though.

Another idea for both your house and lawyer annoyance (if they're permitted in your area) is cracker/scare shells for a flaregun. Those things make a buttload of noise. We use them up in Soviet Canuckistan to clear out geese.

It's either "Yehaaaaaaa Yehaaaaaaaaa Yehaaaaaaaa" or "OBBLEOBBLEOBBLEOBBLEOBBLE" if you're chasing them down with a 5000lb truck going 50mph. :D Never have hit one of the suckers though.

They also have a "EEEEEEEH EEEEEEEEEEH EEEEEEEEEH EEEEEEEH EEEEEEEEH" which is really goddamn annoying too. I hate that worse than the Yehhhhhhhaaaaa. :|

Since you're up, just go outside the lawyers house and start screaming. I'm pretty sure he'll get the picture :p

I read that community bulletin and it sounds like that lawyer has no legal grounds to sue you if you remove the peacocks. He's just making hollow threats.

That bulletin says that since they are not native animals, they are not a protected species, and most of the town's population is in favor of controlling the birds.

Sounds like that lawyer is just a very vocal minority. Put him in his place.

Ah that brings back memories. When we were in Nigera, every morning the peacocks would be at our lawn, they'd eat our chili from the chilipoants we were growing. They look very beautiful when they spread their wings. For us, they were our alarm clock (as well as the chickens who would peck at our door at 7AM for food every morning).

Not completely related to the discussion, but both my neighbor across the street and I keep a small flock of peacocks (he breeds them, I just have 2 females and a male as living lawn ornaments) and, while they do make a lot of noise, it's not too terrible. Especially considering how good they look. :)

The situation is addressed here in a community bulletin..

If I could trap the birds without the nasty lawyer neighbor getting wind of it I would.

Don't worry about him... based on the bulletin..

Some residents expressed concerns about the legality of trapping the birds. Again, these are not native birds. They are domestic fowl. The appropriate authorities have been contacted and there are no statutes that would apply. We have successfully trapped and relocated numerous peafowl in the past, with no harm to the birds. Any having concerns relative to this issue should be referred to California Penal Code, Sec. 597b - General Animal Cruelty.

You *do* know how much it costs to defend yourself if you get sued, regardless of the frivolity of the lawsuit, right?

His cost to file claims - Several hours of his time @ $300/hr
Calling a rival lawyer who wants to make an example of that dumbass - $0
Laughing when the case is thrown out at the pretrial - Priceless.

Pay for my transportation, and I'll take care of it myself. The Greyhound "Go Anywhere Fare" is only about CDN$250 to the states. :D

LOL!!!

People have problems with the weirdest things.. My roomate complained of ladybugs once... and then he complained of them smelling bad.

I laughed my ass off at him until I saw nearly 500 ladybugs all crawling around his bathroom window. And his bathroom smelled bad. I thought "WTF could a ladybug do."

Brother, I sympathize with you.

My townhouse complex is located adjacent a waterfowl park; I get to listen to Canada Geese honking all throughout the day. They congregate in the largest numbers in the morning, and do a fairly good job of waking me up.

I've more or less gotten used to them, but when my girlfriend spends the night, she always wakes when she hears them, which in turn wakes my ass up. "Goddamn it! Those ****ing geese!" she screams.

I find it amusing that we would rather listen to the sounds of cars on the road than an animal.
