shut downs not automatic anymore

usually when i had firefox 2 when i press my power button for it to shut down it usually just closes firefox by itself and when i start firefox again next time it would just resume with my pages and tabs. but after getting firefox 3, if i shut down the computer it will also tell me to close firefox first . i know i can just click on shut down anyways but i really would like this to be a one step process. is there any way to fix this?
