Shut down vm when host pc shuts down.

anyway to automate this say during a power outage? I have a ups set to run for 7 minutes when power is lost, then shut down. I would like windows 7 (host) to shut down WHS (guest) properly so there isn't any issues in WHS about "not shutting down properly"

using free vmplayer 3.1.4.

I've never played with this setup before, but I imagine, you would want to set up these parameters individually in each operating system. The vm should be able to detect that an ups is connected to the system and you set your power options up accordingly. I would probably set up a staggered time so your vm could shut down faster than your host.

The virtual machine can only detect the ups if it is connected to it. USB items are not connected to the host and vm at the same time. If the vm connects the host disconnects. If you connected the ups to the vm and it closed after 7 minutes the host when reconnected would start its 7 minute clock.

Just as a side note, I would suggest turning off disk-write caching (Device Manager) on any computer where data loss due to unexpected power loss is a concern.
