Shrek2, 354 Million at the Box Office

it is currently #8 on the all time list. seems very probably to break top 5 (about $404 mill). anyone think it has the legs to get it to $600 mill??

shrek 2 is the type of movie to make that kind of impact as it has cross appeal to both adults and children.

No, because it does not appeal to a particular teeny-bopper age group with oodles of parents' money and it is also not the type of movie one goes to see 10 times.

who in the world watched titanic 10 times???

I don't know if it'll do that well. Something that helped Titanic was it its international appeal. Shrek is making most of its money in domestic sales.

Although making almost $400 million in about 30 days is very impressive.

I didn't watch Titanic until it was 8 months old. When I finally went, the theater was packed with people who had the entire movie memorized and spoke it out loud throughout the entire movie. They all claimed to have seen it far more than 10 times.

Teeny bopper girls that are in love with Leonardo DeCrapio!

Shrek 2 definitely has the broad appeal across all demographics, but it isn't a GREAT movie, IMO. If they had a movie starring only Puss in Boots, it would be a masterpiece.

The Prisoner of Azkaban, however, was absolutely fantastic. It's too bad it dropped off a great deal this past weekend. Other than its almost too-fast pace -- which was undestandably necessary considering how much material had to be covered -- I found it very hard to find any flaws with it. I liked the first two Potter movies, but found them at times to be extremely annoying. This one, however, has a perfect tone.

There's a reason it's making most of its sales "domestically", ie: in the US.

IT'S NOT BEEN RELEASED ELSEWHERE YET!

Doesn't come out in the UK until the second of July, so it can;t make money here yet 😛
I've seen it already though (yay for broadband 🙂)
Might see it when it's finally released though.

I have never ever seen Titanic, I almost did once on video, but fell asleep during the adverts for other films (it was on VHS not DVD).
And HP is the worst thing ever, with Spiderman a close second.

actually, we are talking domestic box office, so your comment is not relevant.

wow what made titanic that huge?? seriously its not THAT great of a movie...

It appealed to lots and lots of the females.

The same phenomenon sells millions upon millions of romance novels that all have the same plot.

I haven't seen Shrek 2 yet but I did have the misfortune of seeing Titanic. That being said I hope Shrek 2 whips some Titanic box office ass. I don't know what the appeal was in Craptanic that it had an almost cult like following. 😕

I thought Shrek 2 was a great comedy that made fun of our pop culture. I haven't seen any movies in the past 5 years that had me laughing like Shrek 2. The writers did a fantastic job poking fun at everything from the movies we watch to our obsession with Starbucks..
IMDB has a long thread regarding all the references in the movie... Check it out:
