Does this mean that Sony sucks? 🙂

I saw Disturbia last Friday. There were swarms of kids and parents running around to see Shrek.

i haven't even heard of half those movies...

TW LW Title Studio Weekend Gross % Change Theater Count Total Gross
1 N Shrek the Third P/DW $122,000,000 - 4,122 - $122,907,000
2 1 Spider-Man 3 Sony $28,500,000 -51.0% 4,324 $281,858,000

The thing here is that Spidey was expected to pull what it did....they were only projecting about 60 mil bow for Shrek. Both films did great, but Shrek went beyond expectations, tho to be fair, it was impossible for spidey to exceed expectations because they were set so highly.

so what point was the OP trying to make again? comparing a movie that just came out versus one that has been out several weeks doesn't make sense...

Spiderman 3 beat Shrek on opening...

I wonder what Pirates of the Caribbean will do to Shrek.

Considering Dead Man's Chest's opening is still above Shrek 3, I think the new one will probably beat spiderman and shrek.

So far 8.8 on IMDB... Cant wait to see it

On a side note, do you think any movie will ever top Titanic? It still sits HIGH at the top... I know I know its 10 year old but still I wonder...

Make sure you see Georgia Rule... especially if you are a fan of lindsey lohan and jane fonda!

I didn't realize there was a Shrek 2 until I heard about the 3rd one 😱

Guess that's because I don't have little ones 😛

Nope, unless they start releasing HD PPV on the date of the actual theatrical release. I seriously doubt we will ever see anything like Titanic's numbers ever again.

What he's saying is Shrek made nearly 100 Million dollars more at the box office over this weekend. Even though Spidey's been out for a while, that's still pretty impressive. I think word of mouth may be getting around on Spiderman 3, people telling others to wait to rent it or watch it on TV. Either that or everyone has seen it already 😛
