Showtime's new show Shameless is pretty dam good and needs a proper discussion thread

My wife and I love the show, it's the highlight of our Sunday nights. I find it interesting, though, how the writers have portrayed the group from season 1 to season 2. Season 1 was more about them being poor and doing what they needed to in order to survive. You feel bad and empathize with them. Season 2 is making them much more aggressive and have absolutely no morals, which seems in stark contrast from season 1. At times they seem like really bad people.

Doesn't seem to matter though, I can't get enough of the show.

I agree. 1st season they were in a shitty situation and did what they could to survive but were basically pretty good people (except frank). this season they seem to be doing bad stuff because they can, not because they need to survive.

Emmy Rossum gets naked every episode.

I just watched S01E01 and S01E02 last night. I'm quite hooked now having also seen two episodes from S02.

This line from S01E02 was hilarious:

Frank: We should have a safe word.
Shiela: Ok.
Frank: How about 'stop'?

ps - is it possible to fall in love with a character on a tv show? because i think i'm in love with emmy rossum.

Stand in line dude. EVERY red-blooded male would love a girl that looked, thought and acted like that.

The show in awesome. Been watching since day 1. The writers do a GREAT job of keeping the HUGE cast all relevant to the story line AND interesting at the same time.

My favorite line thus far this season:

"She charges by the load and so should we." - Fiona to Lip in regards to the hooker renting Frank's room using the washing machine

Been watching this show since the series premiere and am still enjoying it. The casting is great IMO, even some of the people I wasn't so sure about in the beginning, I like now. Another big bonus is it's on Showtime so you actually get an hour worth of show out of an hour episode.

I just watched the season 1 episode where
Monica returns and she says she wants to take Liam back with her and Bob and Frank agrees to it if she signs the documents for Frank's disability settlement
. I have to say the acting in this episode was utterly fantastic. And Joan Cusack and whoever plays Kevin are also surprisingly good in their more minor roles.

british version is seriously WAY better. watch it

I am wondering about this, british version already has 9 seasons and the US version is apperantly a shot-for-shot remake any way.

everything on showtime is pretty horrible, but I will give this a shot

BLASPHEMY! Dexter rocks! Weeds used to rock as well!

Considering how big a dipshit Frank is...

I wasn't going to be surprised if he pulled the trigger and killed his mother.

Everyone I know that watches the British version says its better but knowing that only Carl is left on the show now, I cant imagine how it can be good.
