I think we all realised long ago that marketing teams are either scum (in the case of intel) or populated by complete ideots ( in the case of amd) and i got no idea what to say about the marketing team of Apple, i mean what are they on?

I've always had AMD cpus in my performance machines. My server used to be a Celeron 1.1, it's now a Sempron3100+, but that may change back to Intel soon (cheap new Celeron box). My laptop is an Intel, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I just buy what I can afford.

I'm all for AMD. I'm happy with my 4400+, I don't think I'll be upgrading soon so I'm guessing by the time I am, AMD will have something better at the time anyway

Although I don't care, as we consumers will be the beneficiaries of good competition. Long live Conroe.

Neither really. I just go with what im more comfortable with. AMD has been kick ass since the XP1700s that overclocked to 2.0+ GHz on air. I never looked back since.

If conroe or Intel's "core" technology lives up to its expectations I might think about jumping on the Intel boat. I'm sure the processor we saw in the preview will be at least 500 dollars though, and the cheaper variants will perform on par with AMD for around 300 dollars.

I have faith in AMD that their K8L, K9 or k10 etc... will be a little more sophisticated than just a die shrink and a 100MHz clock boost.

While I do not want AMD to go under,(less competition means higher prices and less technological advances) I am not so illogical as to pledge myself to support a company specifically.

I will buy a product that has the highest performance for the price I am willing to pay. The company that makes the product means nothing to me.

I think Amd is no 1 choice for desktop computers, because it offers better value.
Ok at least most of the time, but in notebook market amd is very weak, I hope turion x2 will change that!

I have used AMD for a long time over the years I have had a PC. ..I prefer to buy a new PC when the CPU that I have wanted for a while comes down to the price I am willing to pay for it. The last couple of years if Intel had a better CPU I would have probably got one of them, the way I see things is that I buy AMD or Intel when I see one of there products that is worthwhile. ...I dont see Conroe is being a worthwhile product..I think my CPU purchase will be the K8L ...I like the potential it is going to have. The AM2 is just a stop gap release for now...the real deal will be K8L ...that is what I am looking for.

Personally I like AMD, because as the underdog, they usually provide better quality and services. Intel as a company has become big and bloated, in my opinion. However, with the Conroe vs. AM2 outlook, I might be switching to Intel next year.
