Are you in school or something?

Though I must say the global average is higher than I expected. It works out to a little over $9/hour full time.

That average doesn't say anything about other compensation like social programs or health coverage. For instance, I think employers match your social security contributions here in the US, and many subsidize health care costs. My wife has a company car that doesn't show on her paycheck in any way. I suspect there are things like that all over the place.

Also keep in mind that the disclosure in the site states that it is for wage-earners only, meaning it does not account for the self-employed or the unemployed. The global average wage is much lower when those are factored in.

Read the article.. they explained how this works.

Also, they include standard of living and a few more parameters into the mix. Like 20,000 INR = $393, but in that pay scale 20,000 INR = $1,308.

Which means a person who earns $393 in the India may have the same standard of living if he earns $1300 in the US.

Your wage is 83% of the United States average and 182% of the world average.

I'm self employed, but I pay myself a salary that's good enough to live on.

This is why we need protectionist policies. I do not care to compete with China and India on a wage basis, thank you.

They really punish Canada in this thing. If I put my country as Canada I get (234/430). If I put my country as US I get (255/563).

Does a Canadian dollar spent in Canada only have 75% of the purchasing power of a US dollar spent in the US?
