Show Off Fail

I don't know what makes me more sad, that more and more cars, including sports cars, are getting traction control, stability control, and other computer-controlled systems included by law, or that this is a good move for most drivers that will reduce accidents.

I am kind of a car n00b, but can someone explain how that happened?

What I am guessing:

He just slams the gas to the floor, causing the wheels to spin so fast they lose traction (even at that highway level speed? Do corvettes have that much hp/Torque/correct car term) then when that happened he held on the gas I am guessing rather than blipping the brakes to regain control? So basically he burned out and lost control while moving the car?

Listen carefully - engine sounds like it has a Supercharger on it as I noticed a "whine" sound.

And yes - a downshift to 2nd gear while doing 60-mph will most likely cause a lack of traction as these Vettes now come with 436HP stock.

hmm, wouldn't you want to do that so that ABS can kick in??

You never want to hit the brakes at all when turning at high speeds and in his case, fish tailing/spinning out. You either brake well, or turn well. Your tires can't handle both at 100% at the same time. You try to brake and turn then you're maybe getting 50% capacity out of each. You always brake before you enter a turn, not during. He fish tails one way then starts to go the other but when he brakes his car swerves the complete opposite way. If he would have turned into it he could have easily come out of that.

This concept is most important when driving in winter. When making that turn on some snow, slow down before you start turning, otherwise the front tires plow snow when applying the brakes and the car will under-steer. Hitting the gas while turning in a FWD car will make it under-steer. Hitting the gas while turning in a RWD car will make it fishtail.

Apply the rules of winter driving to racing and you'll be fine.

For that to happen to a Corvette he had to have turned off all the TC/SC/etc...
On my 01 the system kicks in real fast and would keep that from happening. He was trying to show off his "master" driving skills and that is what happened.

fixed.

Seems to me the TC/SC was off. I doubt it's that lazy to react.

You know, if he wouldn't have slammed the brakes like an idiot, and just let the car go....he would have just put it into the grassy median.

Instead he steered towards cars and hit the brakes. Someone put that man in a Tempo, or something he can control 😛
