Like I said, I want to reformat. My g-dayum floppy's are not HD,so the XP boot disks are out of the question since they do not hold enuff per disk
What steps do I need to do. My PC My PC

can't you boot to the xp pro cd? a win98 boot disk (w/ fdisk) will format to FAT32, and if you want NTFS you should do it off the xp pro cd...you can partition and format NTFS from there no problem. if you don't care about FAT32, just a win98 boot disk-->boot (w/ cd drivers)-->fdisk (partition 'till your heart's content)-->format c: /q (quick format, FAT32)-->then to cd drive (probably will be e:, as d: will be ms-ramdrive from win98 boot disk)-->run setup

but i definitely suggest booting to cd....if the computer can't support that, it's probably too old to put xp pro on anyway

It supports it just fine ty. Are you saying to just RE-install xp over existing XP ?,,,I did that yesterday, and I still had all my crap on my drives.
I would like to know how to do a reformat, clean it up,nothing on it. Then install XP PRO again,.,,do you know what I am saying?,,,,REFORMAT

read previous post more carefully.

first option:
boot off winxp pro cd. do NOT choose option to reinstall. choose to format existing drive (quick format NTFS is fine). run setup from there when format is complete.

second option:
boot off win98 boot disk-->boot (w/ cd drivers)-->fdisk (partition 'till your heart's content)-->format c: /q (quick format, FAT32)-->then to cd drive (probably will be e:, as d: will be ms-ramdrive from win98 boot disk)-->run setup

there's more options, but those are probably the easiest two.

1. Control Panel (make sure you are in "Classic" mode because I don't know the navigation from the other mode)
2. Administrative Tools
3. Computer Management
4. Select 'Disk Management' under 'Storage' on the left hand side
5. right-click the disk in question on the right hand side
6. Sekect Format or delete the partition. Once deleted, you need to re-create it and reformat (just like fdisk)

Boot your xp cd and go through like you are going to reinstall. It will ask you what partition you want to install os on. choose and hit return it will ask you if you want to format disk and which file system. Hit return and xp will format then install again.
