OK, I'm on a 56k cause broadband still isn't offered in my area...urgh...anyway, I'm trying to listen to some stations on shoutcast, so I told it to only list ones for 56k modem and below. However, even when listening to stations that are broadcasting at say, 24 kpbs, 22kHz, and 1/4 capacity, it stops and friggin buffers every three seconds (no, not literally, but more than once every 60 seconds, enough that when listening to a talk show I don't know what's being discussed). What's the deal with this?

I once had a similar problem to this... i'm on DSL and even the crappiest quality station would skip. I didn't know why. turns out I was using some strange sound decoder in winamp (that i read about here on the forums and was trying out) that was screwing things up. Switching back to winamps default decoder fixed it.

Hmm, I'm not sure what 'sound decoder' you speak of, where I can I find it in Winamp's options, and what's the default one I need to change to (if this is the case at all)? Thanks.

You may also wish to verify that your bandwidth isn't being used by some other application (i.e. some filesharing app, your web browser, or even spyware).
