OK, here's my problem which, considering it's a Gateway PC, I expected to have come upgrade time. When I bought it (July 2000), the Gateway website said that it was an enhanced Athlon 'Thunderbird' processor, so I figured, alright, I'll get a generic (read: bad) Socket A mobo with it and that'll be the first thing that I'll upgrade.

I ran SiSoft Sandra 2001 for the first time today, and it's detecting a Slot A mobo along with a Thunderbird processor. Now I'm wondering, is there such a thing as a Slot A Thunderbird and did I get screwed by Gateway? Wait, I already know the answer to that last one - so all I'm asking is if there's such a thing as a Slot A Thunderbird, or is the Sandra program wrong?

Thanks for any help for yet another OEM victim,

CK

AMD made some Slot-A T-Birds, so I guess you have one of those.
Have you considered OC'ing it ?
You should be able to put a GFD on it.

Thanks for the quick reply...

I wanted to OC it, but since I'm a total rookie on the hardware scene I've been hesitant. And to prove to you that I'm just a beginner, my next question is: What's a GFD?

Thanks again for your help,
