There is absolutely nothing preventing people from voting. I don't care if you work 100hrs a week, it only takes 10minutes of your time. You've been able to do it anytime in the past two weeks, and if that didnt work you could do an absentee ballot. If you don't vote you have nobody to blame but yourself. Besides, who wants to take a tuesday off of work?

not every state has proper absentee voting or early voting or enough polls to get in and out in 10 minutes.

lines have been 1/2+ hour long here for 2 weeks, and i live in a small town. In my precinct the lines will be 2-3 hours long tomorrow.

we only have absentee voting if you legitimately can't make it, and no early voting. Only option is from 6am-6pm tomorrow. I'm working from 7am-6pm, then class from 6:30-7:45pm. So I'll try to get out the door by 6am so that I will have time to get in and vote and still make it to work on time.

Same here, although one of the ballots is for allowing early voting. Definitely voting yes on that one.

That would be nice, I've heard some talk about it, but IIRC the state constitution says specific things about the voting process so it could be tricky.

No, because then a lot of ass-tards would use it as an excuse to take a vacation day the Monday prior and take a long weekend trip.

I don't get bank holidays off, so I likely wouldn't get election day off even if it were a national holiday. Besides that, there's not an election every year, so the "Tuesday after the first Monday in November Holiday" for the odd-numbered years just doesn't sound right.

You haven't seen any news about the record number of early votes this year?

There is no excuse.

The Kentucky Constitution provides "that all employers shall allow employees, under reasonable regulations, at least four hours on election days, in which to cast their votes." Employees need to request leave from their employer prior to the day in which they will cast their ballots to be eligible for this incentive. Kentucky law provides the employer discretion as to whether the employee will be compensated for that time and at what time the employee may vote. If an employee requests leave to vote and does not do so, state law deems that he or she may be subject to disciplinary action.

Nope, because then the election workers, who are government employees after all, would have to be paid time and a half (or something equally ridiculous) for doing their jobs. Leave it alone, as most employers I have ever worked for already make allowances for election day.

We don't even have polling places in Oregon. Everyone votes by mail. :) Most people here voted a long time ago.

There is going to be a national movement for making voting by mail in all states easier/legal after this election..
