Shouldn't people bring their own PC to a LAN Party?

I occasionally have LAN parties at my house. We usually have between 10-20 people, but once in a great while we go as high as 40. I have a good dozen of my own computers at home that I use for one thing or another. About 6 of them are good enough to play today's games. Now, I have no problem with lending a machine to my brothers (2) and sister (1) and wife (1 :) ), as they all live with me. However, I am getting damn sick of people hearing about my LAN party and then showing up at my house without a damn computer! They think since I have "so many computers" I am supposed to share with them.

DAMN...these people just irritate me. Does this happen to you guys? It seems to me to be like showing up at the Indy500 and whining because the race organizer won't give you a car!

Most do, but I'll admit that I usually don't. I have the best LAN party hosts...

I have no problem showing up with my own PC. If you ask nicely, I might even bring a spare. Monitors are sometimes a different story, I only have one that's remotely portable.

It's in poor taste for them to ask for a computer, unless of course they arranged something with you before arriving. A lot people just lack etiquette.

In our group I am the guy with the extra pc's. We host our lan parties generally at a local community building and I do get tired of people asking me to bring my extra systems. It is a b!tch to get 3 systems (plus the hubs, wires, and other equipment) into a '99 Cougar, haul them to the party, set them up, take them down during the wee hours of the morning (when we usually break it down), put them back into the '99 Cougar, take them home, set them back up in my house. Not to mention I usually am the one who makes lunch and dinner (either chili or steaks or the like).... I get tired of being the guy who is working while everyone else is playing. At the last lan party I said "fvck it" and took only my system and ordered pizza for myself. I think they got the hint because they said at the next party a couple of other guys mentioned that they would be willing to bring a system and another couple of them said they would cook.

My friend always has a bunch of lan parties, and only on one occasion i needed to borrow one of his like 10 computers... I arranged it with him beforehand, no big deal.

I have no problem with that. I am glad to help out somebody once and awhile, but I get sick of them showing up expecting a machine. Lately I tell them to screw off, and they just sit behind people oogling over their shoulder. I think its time to start kicking people out.

Your Lan party, your rules. You do what you have to.

I think it's the fact that people just come assuming they can use this man's stuff... I'd be irritated by this also... quite much so.

I feel your pain brother!
