Should I be able to overclock a Duron 900 using 133 bus settings.

It overclocks fine with the 100 bus setting.

I used the "pencil trick" but I wondering perhaps maybe I didn't do it well enough which is why it's not even POSTing at 6*133.

Anyone know what's going on?

BTW I have PC2100 ram

I had the same problem with a T-bird 900. Here's what's most likely happening:

The computer first reads the multiplier on the Duron, which is 9. It also knows that the bus is 133. So, it tries to initialize the processor at 9x133, or 1.2GHz. The processor has to initialize in order for the BIOS to continue to load, and implement a new multiplier.
To my knowledge, the only way to change this is to hard-mod the L3,4, and 6 bridges to a different multiplier. This involves cutting most of them and connecting others to give a new multiplier. It worked for my T-bird 900, 750, and 700.

Here's a chart of how to mod the bridges.
