Even regarding our debt the European Union is in a worse state than us. We are more efficient and our economy is based on actual capitalism which the rest of the world has attempted to copy in the past 2 decades.

I vote Democrat, but agree with asshat Repub's that spending is the problem. We should just spend on the right thing and ensure the funds are being used properly.

How about just legalize competing currencies? US based persons and businesses can use Euros then if they wish.

$2 coin? F that. They are as bad as Canada apparently. Give me an all paper (or plastic, as is the current trend) currency, I don't care what it is.

Loony and Toony. Lol. Their monetary system was named by Ned Flanders.

I was just thinking today it would be great idea if we could concentrate more power into a centralized location. After all, everything is better as a monolith. What could go wrong?

no, we need to be able to devalue the greenback when the Chinese and Saudis are sick of lending us money at 2% yield.

The point of national currencies is that the currency's valuation reflects the nation's economy. When you try to tie together countries that are too different, such as Spain and the UK, you risk collapsing the entire thing because Spain's economy ought to be valued far below the UK's. SO, basically that wouldn't be feasible. But, for example, if Mexico ever puts down the cartels, there could potentially be a US-Canada-Mexico currency.

Not that you, OP, give a shit about any of this; you are just waiting for people to say it is a good idea so you can use it as proof of the rise of the antichrist or some such BS.

How can you possibly still be allowed to post thread after thread that belongs in P&N in OT?

Currencies are a shell game. The Euro forced countries to compete on actual merits rather than playing games with devaluation etc to artificially boost competitiveness.

Eventually when the world is globalized enough and the world economy is in sync it will make sense to have a global currency. Hell, Star Wars has the universal credit.

What we need is a redesign of our whole dollar/coins system.

Get rid of the penny.
Change the dollar and 2 dollar to coins.
