she attempted to trip him... and he subdued her the quickest way possible.

she was DETAINED for disorderly conduct ... who knows what she was going to do.

Yes. Cops don't get a pass to behave badly just because the people are arresting behave badly. That was not self defense and was totally unnecessary. Even if it doesn't meet the legal standard for assault he should lose his job.

Liveleak is one of those more popular non youtube sites that are posted here so not as bad as some random video site.

This. Like it or not, LEOs should be held to a higher standard, which means not retaliating at a handcuffed woman sticking her leg out by kicking her in the face.


Disgusting, although the outcome is not surprising.
 
Got what she deserved.

Some pepper spray with her rolling on the ground screaming would have been the perfect ending.

i dont see any civil right violation..

Civil rights include the ensuring of peoples' physical integrity and safety; protection from discrimination on grounds such as physical or mental disability, gender, religion, race, national origin, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity;
 
This is why police don't want you video taping them. He should absolutely be charged and disciplined.

A weak kick (possible miss) to the legs doesn't warrant a head kick when she's already cuffed...

If you really think that's self defense guyver, I'm not sure there's any hope for you. Self defense goes out the window when she's cuffed and on the ground. I'd agree she should get something like resisting arrest. But a head kick can cause injury, a weak kick while sitting down... please.

Bottom line is that the officer made a heat of the moment inappropriate reaction that happens to be assault. He shouldn't have touched her for the equivalent of a 5 year old kicking his shin.

so i guess kicking your detainee in the face does not apply?
 
if i was her i would sue the shit out of the dept for deliberating headaches, neck-pain, depression and violating my civil rights. that tape is worth a gold mine.

she wasn;t kicked in the face... it was the back of the head.

her "physical integrity and safety" is not in danger.

a single disabling kick does not endanger her safety or her 'physical integrity'

if he kept kicking her over and over and over... then yes, both could be in danger...

Agreed, especially the highlighted. A lot of cops don't bother with self-restraint because they don't need to, they get away with it 99% of the time.

Even in this modern age, they get away with it more times then naught because so many are afraid to videotape them, or will delete whatever is being recorded as soon as the officer asks them too. Which would be basically be 100% of the time if the officer sees that he/she is being recorded
 
while i don't feel sorry for the women. YES he should be charged. she was handcuffed and all it would have taken to defuse the situation was the LEO take a step back. instead he kicked a handcuffed person in the back of the head.

he needs a day off without pay and forced to clean toilets. other then that nothing major.
 
What this really boils down to, is do you think it's ok for a LEO to delve out punishment? That's what he's doing... rather than charging her and letting a judge/jury handle it he's taking matters into his own hands.

That's a very dangerous line to cross, and IMO unacceptable - not only just for him, but also for the people saying this is ok.

wrong. a kick to the back of the head can be deadly and is a health issue. there is a reason you can't hit/kick in MMA etc.

he is not delving out punishment.

he is incapacitating a suspect who is out to do continued harm.

if you do not believe police should be able to stop a person from continued harm of others... then you don't believe police should carry a gun.. or a baton... or a stun gun..

after all... the suspect shooting at you should stop once you ask him nicely to come quietly, right?

I know. Commander Kink was a LiveLeak weirdo. He was getting some kind of compensaation for boosting the popularity. The searches turned him up on a ton of different forums doing the exact same thing.
