Do we need the draft now? Answer = no
Is the draft necessarily a bad thing? Answer = no
My Dad was drafted by the US Army back in 1965 and spend several months in 1966 in the wonderful vacation resort known as Vietnam. After getting shot up and permanently he came back to the US, and used Gov. funds to end up getting his PhD. Does he harbor and anger or resentment towards the gov? Nope, he enjoyed the Army and wished he had enlisted earlier.
The US doesn't need a draft now, and possibly will never again. If a draft does come about, all men and WOMEN should have to serve either 1-2 years in the military, peace corps, or do other government work (Park Service, ect.). Just my 2 cents.
