What do you have against beef eating lumberjacks? I bet you hate mom and apple pie, too...

😉

He is from England, you need to ask what he has against crumpets and the Queen I think. And trying to debate gun issues with Hal9000 is one of the quickest auto fails on this forum, but everyone has to learn for themselves.

He just does not understand the American point of view.

I do love a good crumpet.

If we wish a voter ID then a ID on gun owners shouldn't be a problem...

What better id than open carry? Plain for all to see an id right?

But seriously, the issue in the OP is he wants to know who owns guns, and presumably how many and the make/models, in their home. If so, wouldn't your parallel then be a public database of who voted, and how they voted?

If the mere act of picking up a weapon makes you more dangerous, especially if you actually believe that, you should never touch another weapon again. If you are not confident that you can handle that weapon without endangering others then you have absolutely no business touching it. Period.

However, the rest of us need not be punished due to your lack of rather basic ability.

+1 /thread

Those who want to carry a gun already need an ID.
Not every state requires an ID...that said you have to show ID to purchase a gun and showing an ID to vote is no different, having a public registry of either would be beyond stupid

Why bother with a registry?

The government only knows about who recently purchased a firearm. There are so many unaccounted for guns on the market and in the hands of people that they dont have any idea who owns a gun. Since a good gun can last over 100 years how are you going to track them?

I can purchase a gun tommorrow and sell to a third party without the government knowing anything.

Well of course they would make it illegal to sell them without the proper forms filled out in triplicate, a background check of you and the buyer, and any other hoops that would make it a massive PITA...there will never be one and there never should be one period.
