They should let him go. Put the money elsewhere. I am of the opinion that offensive lines and offensive schemes make the running back anyway. You take any running back and give him those wide open lanes that Alexander was running through and, guess what, he'll run through them too.

With a few exceptions (Sanders, Payton, etc...) I agree.

Of course. Those exceptions need to be understood whenever discussing running backs.

running backs grow on trees these days, and if you have a good offensive line, anyone can be a 1000+ yd rusher. i think you're better off spending money on defense.

how many teams have at least a better-than-average RB (nearly EVERY team, including the raiders and lions), compared to how many have a good defense?

Funny, I didn't see many wide open lanes for Alexander to run through...looked more like typical Alexander finding the seam and making the defense miss. He remains a top back, and "great" backs are hard to come by.

They showed the lanes several times from behind the line during replays. kinda hard to miss them unless you were up refilling the potato chip bowl.

He did take advantage when it opened in front of him, thats his job. He also was able to change directions and turn nothing into nice gains, as well as get extra yardage on effort, did you miss that? Alexander had recent great games against both Chicago and San Diego 's defenses as well.

He's far from done, and oppposing defenses have to key on him. I wouldn't be the guy to trade him (give him away) thats for sure.

I don't see the hawks getting rid of Shaun... but I think Michael Turner is going to be a restricted FA.

The way Morris played while Alexander was on the sidelines for the Bears game proved Alexander could still gain decent to great yardage. I still say he's got a few years left in him.

Come on people, the OP obviously forget to take his med's today. 😉

Get rid of Alexander....BWAA HAA HAA HAA....that's a good one. 😀

Even in his best season I had no faith in him during the playoffs. He is inconsistent and gets most of his stats from the fact that he is always given the ball at the 2 yard line and the occasional big game he has. This year he was basically worthless both because of injuries and performance.

I'm not complaining about how he did against Chicago, but is he really worth keeping? Who are the free agent backs the Seahawks may have a chance at this offseason? I see no reason to keep Alexander unless he takes a huge pay cut to allow the team to fill some other holes.

You forget one thing...

You cant compare the Seattle situation to the same one that went down in Indy... Edge wasnt the team... Peyton to Harrison, Peyton to Reggie Wayne, & Peyton to Dallas Clark... Edge was merely a distraction to get some cheap yards when teams tried to actually stop Mannings pass reads.

playing a mike holgrem west coast offense without a top RB... would be more like what happened to the packers after ahmad green started to suck. Its a back featured offense... and its not only important for the back to run and gain yards... he has to be able to catch screens, flares, flats, and passes over the middle... I dont think theres a college out there which runs a west coast... and most rookie backs have hands of stone and couldnt catch a loaf of bread.

this aint like the AFC where you can just stick in the biggest guy you can find and tell him hold onto the ball and just run people over... this aint that type of power offense.

About the only back you could replace alexander with is the retiring tiki barber or maybe warrick dunn...
