There is a definite precedent for man-like women in sports, not to mention our general public life.

But seriously, yes. Even if her body is creating more testosterone than the other women, she's still a woman. The Williams sisters seem less like women than this girl does.

Robonia! A country i didn't make up.

Women don't have penises. This person did. It's clear that this person isn't firmly a woman, but isn't a man either. That's a tough call, but saying that it's a woman if they have ovaries is a bit misleading, too, since people with similar conditions can be manly yet still have ovaries.

Why would you underline the word girl? The article says that this person was born with both male and female genitalia. Are you trying to be so politically correct that you can't even tell it like it is? What would you call dudes who were born with 100% male genitalia but like to live as a woman? Do you call them "girls" also?

I do.

You do because you embrace their newfound sexual identity or because it's comical for a dude to pretend he's a woman?

umm. Not every player is born equally. People are born with certain traits. Shaq shouldn't play in NBA because he's a freak of nature? Unfair!! Yao Ming? What does it matter what the player is born with. Every athlete uses their innate physical attributes to be successful.

Dude, lighten up. Being born this way wasn't her choice. It seems to me that those so brutally unlucky to be born this way should be allowed the basically decent right of a decision to choose. Why are you being such a hard ass as to deny her that?

C'mon. She had her dicklet sliced off but that's somehow not good enough for you?

What the hell would her other choice be? Join the Pro Hermaphrodite Tennis tour? Give her, us and yourself a freakin' break . . . even though such a tour would give new meaning to the phrase "playing doubles."

I know I'd watch! ;)

Enough with this PC shit. Has she ever had a set of balls in her life? If yes, she belongs with the males. You can't have people playing with the girls just because they lost their balls. You don't see Lance Armstrong starting the first half of the tour with the guys, then finishing it with the girls do you?

No, but lance was not born with a vagina either.

I'd imagine she's already had enough shit piled on her for one life. She's just as much of a woman as she is a man, let her play and stop making excuses for why you she's a better tennis player than you.

No one's saying she shouldn't play. She just needs to be put in with the guys.

I'm not saying that she shouldn't be allowed to play women's tennis, and after seeing pictures of her I she looks feminine and I'd call her a "she". My point is that often political correctness is forced upon us and we're expected to call someone by their chosen gender, even when it's clear that it's not really a man/woman. For instance, remember that whole ordeal with the pregnant "man"? That "man" was a full fledged woman, yet we were expected to call her a "he".

I really do feel bad for people who are born with problems such as this tennis player's because they didn't ask for it, they'd probably wish people didn't know about it, but then the issue is forced on them repeatedly.

Who in their right mind would begin a post with "umm?"

It's bad enough when people are speaking in public and can't think of what to say so they say "ummm", but when you're writing, putting "ummm" in your posts only makes you sound like a mouthbreather.

After seeing the pictures I'd call her a she.

But there have been times when the picture is obviously of a man but vocal proponents of the PC movement expect us to call him a "her". A good example is the "pregnant man" that I referred to earlier in the thread. That was 100% woman with fully functional woman parts. But she took some injections of hormones and grew a beard. That wasn't a "man" by any definition.

I'm not a bigot at all. I'm a realist and think that people should accept reality, even if reality isn't as rosy as they'd like. I don't believe that people should live in fantasy and expect others to share in their fantasy out of fear of being called "un-PC" or a bigot as you just did. It reminds me of that South Park episode where everyone's getting surgery to become what they wanted to be, whether it's a man, a woman, black, or a dolphin.

I'm not religious and would even support the right of gays to get married, since it doesn't concern me and I think that they should be able to enjoy married life like everyone else. However I draw the line when people think that they can demand that I buy into the PC movement and that I should fold under pressure when yet another advocacy group proclaims that they're victims of something and demand that I see things their way.

Just the other day I read something about a "fat rights" group demanding that doctors stop discriminating against fat people by recommending that fat people lose weight. This PC crap has got to end. People need to accept reality and stop demanding that the rest of the world accept their distorted view of reality.

UMMMM

Get a life. You get offended by trivial things. It's part of your culture to say "umm" to state the obvious. I suppose stating the obvious is offensive to you.

and oh.. ummm

ya..

While being a realist may be good and all, it can be borderline cyical/pessimistic (people hate to hang with those people). While I am a realist as well, I try my best to just keep that shit to myself (and I've slipped many times to be blunt, but came off as some pessimistic jackass).

Instead of getting all riled up about it, just accept the fact that there will be opinions in this matter. There's no stupid need to get all pissed off about it. Just let other stupid people keep their stupid opinions. What does angrily arguing about it accomplish anyways? It just makes you look like the village idiot if you just blatantly spit out angry posts.
