my new laptop doesnt have a floppy.
if i was buying a new floppy, and the OEM would allow me the option of say getting a 16mb usb keychain, instead of the floppy i'd take the keychain. hell if they'd give me $5 i'd do it too.
i mean they still make computers with ball mice , and floppies. i'd trade the floppy away any day , to just have optical on all mice.
a floppy bulk costs about $5 from what i remember of OEM large quantity prices. now a company like hp/compaq sells say a jhalf a million computers a month. they dont want to risk customers not liking it yet, but i suppose when the whole industry decides its time to get rid of floppies they'll get rid of them and save their 2.5 million a month and sellthe computers for the same price, or will standard optical mice or standard burners / dvds.
i mean some computers still come with cdrom drives too, and a dvd drive costs about $5 more a cdrom, $10 more for a cdrw. i'd rather have any of those things than a floppy no a low end box.
